Climb Shetland
We are Climb Shetland, a small and relaxed rock climbing club for people who like to climb in Shetland. We’ve been around since 2004 and our membership covers a wide range of ages and abilities. We try and organise regular outings in the season, and meet every week at the indoor wall at Aith.
Almost all of our outdoor climbing is on sea cliffs. These can range from spectacular routes at Eshaness, to much more modest costal crags and outcrops.
You will also find us climbing at Shetland’s only climbing wall, in Aith. The West Mainland Leisure Centre wall is open 6 days a week, and you will find some club members there every Tuesday from 6:30 pm to 9pm.
2025-26 membership is now available, still at £35 for a year. Our members range from people new to climbing who just climb indoors, indoor climbers who want to get a taste of climbing on real rock, people who like the social aspect of a day out climbing somewhere gorgeous in Shetland, to seasoned veterans with over 60 years climbing experience!

We have a few members who are well capable of tacking some of our E4 routes, but the majority of us are happy on routes of around on Severe to HVS at a push. A lot of our members climbing outside prefer to be the second on a routes rather than leading.
A Climb Shetland outing is best described as a bit of a walk, a picnic, chat, bit of scrambling to get to the route and a peerie bit of climbing. If that sounds like you, give us a shout!
This is a new site to replace the old climbshetland.co.uk which is no longer in operation. For this new site, we’ll be adding proper content, information, resources and some nice pictures when we get the time.
